Nicole Chui is a London based embroider designer. I asked her how she’s staying sane and creative during isolation.
What positivity has isolation brought to your creativity?
I think it’s actually given me the time and motivation to create whatever I want, as much as I can. I usually create new things almost everyday anyway, but usually I feel the pressure to give myself an unrealistic time limit as I have sooooo many other jobs or chores I need to balance my regular life with.
What are you doing to keep sane?
Writing lists and making sure I check in with friends over the phone daily.
Fave snacks you’ve been eating while being at home?
Oreo Thins and Doritos cool ranch. To be honest I’ve started making a lot of my own green juice too!
Can you share any good online stores to buy things for embroidery/craft making?
Make Town is a new favourite of mine! I’m usually near the actual store but I discovered they have an online shop too! Love this place so much. Oh! If you need alterations or a custom done head to The Seam — I’m on this website too.
First thing you’ll do when the lockdown’s over?
Go to Jim’s Cafe on Chatsworth Road!!! I miss eating out with friends so much.
