Millie Sewell-Knight’s an embroidery artist living in South-East London with her partner. I previously interviewed her about her work earlier this year. You can read it here.
What positivity has isolation brought to your creativity?
I don’t think much has changed for me as I work from home mostly anyway, but I do feel more free to focus on making for the sake of it. I’m having lots more ideas and I think that’s because there’s less distraction or reasons to go out and procrastinate!
What are you doing to keep sane?
Watching less of the news! I was definitely stressing myself by watching all the updates to begin with so I’ve tried to switch off from that a bit. I’ve also been drawing up new designs which is fun and finding little things I can feel grateful for like the sun shining in through the windows and watching my house plants grow.
Fave snacks you’ve been eating while being at home?
I’ve been doing some baking lately to keep busy which means I’ve been having a lot of tea and cake. I also love pretty much every kind of chocolate but I’m such a snacky person and definitely a comfort eater so will eat whatever I can find!
Can you share any good online stores to buy things for embroidery and craft making?
I buy pretty much everything I use for my embroidery on eBay. If you have the patience to do a fair bit of searching you can find so many unique embellishments, beads, vintage fabrics and threads etc. It’s nice to know you’re giving a new lease of life to old things.
First thing you’ll do when the lockdown’s over?
I’ve been really wanting to go to the seaside! So probably plan a trip to a beach somewhere for a picnic. I also can’t wait to sit in a pub garden with a beer.
