Staying Sane With Ola

Ola Olayinka’s a textiles print maker and designer from London. She’s also a good friend of mine. I asked her how she’s staying sane during isolation.

What positivity has isolation brought to your creativity?

It’s given me time to work on the things I’ve been avoiding or felt I never had the time to do. I’ve been able to just focus on making art for the fun of it rather than with a final product in mind.

What are you doing to keep sane?

I’m trying to keep as normal a routine as possible. Waking up early (ish), having a shower, breakfast, a few hours of work and making time to be social with friends (digitally). Also trying to fit in activities such as online classes. 

Fave snacks you’ve been eating while being at home?

I eat atleast one pack of crisps a day but I’ve really craving some sweets. 

Can you share any good online stores to buy things for craft making?

I also work as the studio coordinator of The Fashion School and we’ve made a series of Fashion Kits containing different projects to work on. They kits vary from making tote bags to downloadable patterns to make crop tops and hot pants. 

First thing you’ll do when the lockdown’s over?

I think it will definitely be food and drink related. Probably a big OUTDOOR catch up with mate’s.
